Not as awesome as I wanted by I'm a noob for CSS I may try to make a journal skin later.

My arm is feeling weird again, specially my middle finger which feels like if something is tickling from the inside that's why I'm starting to fall behind in art again :Y

That's the answer I got from $realitysquared months ago on the subject of bases. While this statement may be right in mostly cases there has been the case when bases were done from picture of characters who were actually bald or naked or both, and cases when the so-called base maker traced almost every element of the picture from the background to clothes making nearly no difference between the original picture and derivative work (the base) to justify why it was subject of protection. But I simply dropped it because talking to him is like talking to a wall and because the amount of cases like those weren't so common to make a mess about it.

But now, I have noticed this trend has sky-rocketed and some of them even reach front-page:

Exactly what elements were striped? I only see plain traces here.

And they go ignored because they are "bases" so shit is going down...

Lately I got a job offer which I stupidly (yes insult me) had to ignore because I don't have a good portfolio. The person who offered me the job is a classmate so he has seen me draw, he told me his father who works in a publisher house was looking for an illustrator and gave me his email and such which I had to decline, there are several reasons why I did it (which are mostly related to self-esteem, someone shoot me) but probably the most important one was my lack of portfolio.

So I'm trying to assemble one and I'm currently working on it:



And I plan to work on more realism pictures to fill it because the old ones aren't that good :V

But my major concern is... Is this really the stuff people who look for illustrators look for? What else should I add to a portfolio? Or how many pieces are enough? Or does this depends on the client? I'm really confused so any suggestion is really welcomed.

(I have assembled a portfolio before, but it was for art school and not professional work so it's mostly composed of stuff like this:
